Our Staff

American Construction Investigations Ltd. is a network of highly credentialed and experienced architects; civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineers; construction professionals with expertise in cost analysis, scheduling, jobsite safety and project management. The firm also includes certified building code plans examiners and building inspectors; and certified building code accessibility/usability specialists. These professionals, both core staff as well as members of ACI's Consultant Network, are available as individual consultants or in teams to assist our clients in the resolution of problems involving technical issues or contractual disputes arising out of construction projects.

We also assist our clients in avoiding construction problems and disputes through design consultation and effective organization and management of project delivery systems. Services are offered nationwide to building owners, design professionals, contractors and sub-contractors, product manufacturers, insurance companies and attorneys involved in construction related matters.

Henry R. Hermis, Jr., AIA

Henry R. Hermis, Jr., AIA, is President of ACI and Principal-in-Charge of design and technical consulting services. He has over 20 years experience in architectural practice, including public, institutional, commercial and industrial projects of significant scope and complexity. He has over ten years experience in the specialized field of forensic investigations and research of building codes and technology. Mr. Hermis serves on the AIA's Code Review Committee for the City of Houston and is a certified Plan Examiner and Building Inspector for both ICBO and SBCCI. He is certified as a Registered Accessibility Specialist with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and has presented seminars on accessibility compliance at universities, professional meetings and in many of the leading architectural firms in Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and a Past President of the U of H Architectural Alumni Association.

Dan E. Medley, AIA

Dan E. Medley, AIA is a senior associate with ACI. He provides project management and review of contractual relations and forensic investigations . Mr. Medley has 25 years experience in the building industry and his work includes institutional, civic, historic and residential buildings, with particular emphasis on historic restoration. He has worked for over 15 years researching historic buildings accomplishing forensic analysis to provide viable future alternatives. He has provided forensic analysis on some of the oldest buildings in Texas including the Alamo and many notable projects, including the Texas State Capitol Restoration, the La Mansion Del Rio Hotel and the Guenther Museum. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and has passed the examination for Building Plan Examiner by SBCCI

Jeromy G. Murphy, AIA

Jeromy G. Murphy, AIA, is the Director of Accessibility & Code Consulting Services. Mr. Murphy originally joined ACI in 1997 after graduating from Texas Tech University with a Masters of Architecture. As an Accessibility Specialist, he has performed hundreds of plan reviews and inspections as well as many TAS Surveys and consultations. Mr. Murphy left ACI in 2001 to complete the Intern Develop Program and become a Registered Architect . Since then, he has gained experience in programming, design, project management, and contract administration. Returning in 2004, he leads and manages ACI's Texas Accessibility Standards reviews/inspections and Code Consulting Services. Mr. Murphy is past-President of the Texas Registered Accessibility Specialist Association (TRASA).

Karen Jacobs

Karen Jacobs is the Office Manager and TAS Coordinator. She has been with ACI since 1997. Ms. Jacobs leads the administrative staff and coordinates ACI's efforts with TDLR.


Anna Sykes

Anna Sykes , Accounting Manager. Ms. Sykes has four years experience providing support services for ACI's Forensic Consulting Group.


Linda Eilar, AIA

Linda Eilar, AIA, attended the University of Houston and University of Texas Schools of Architecture and is a licensed Architect in the State of Texas as well as a Registered Accessibility Specialist. She is certified with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as a Plan Reviewer/Site Inspector for TAS. Ms. Eilar has over 20 years architectural experience primarily in tenant, institutional and corporate design and CD's with significant contract administration background. She assists in Texas Accessibility Standard reviews and is accustomed to working with related professionals from all disciplines.


Anthony L. Sinegal

Anthony L. Sinegal, is a graduate of the University of Houston and holds a Bachelor of Architecture with a Minor in Construction Management. In addition, he is a Registered Accessibility Specialist certified with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation as a Plan Reviewer/Site Inspector for TAS. He has currently performed over four thousand TAS Inspections along with numerous consultations throughout the State of Texas. His extensive knowledge of the Texas Accessibility Standards has been a valued asset for ACI's clients.
