Forensic Personnel

Henry R. Hermis, Jr., AIA

Henry R. Hermis, Jr., AIA, is President of ACI and Principal-in-Charge of design and technical consulting services. He has over 20 years experience in architectural practice, including public, institutional, commercial and industrial projects of significant scope and complexity. He has over ten years experience in the specialized field of forensic investigations and research of building codes and technology. Mr. Hermis serves on the AIA's Code Review Committee for the City of Houston and is a certified Plan Examiner and Building Inspector for both ICBO and SBCCI. He is certified as a Registered Accessibility Specialist with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation and has presented seminars on accessibility compliance at universities, professional meetings and in many of the leading architectural firms in Texas. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and a Past President of the U of H Architectural Alumni Association.

Dan E. Medley, AIA

Dan E. Medley, AIA is a senior associate with ACI. He provides project management and review of contractual relations and forensic investigations . Mr. Medley has 25 years experience in the building industry and his work includes institutional, civic, historic and residential buildings, with particular emphasis on historic restoration. He has worked for over 15 years researching historic buildings accomplishing forensic analysis to provide viable future alternatives. He has provided forensic analysis on some of the oldest buildings in Texas including the Alamo and many notable projects, including the Texas State Capitol Restoration, the La Mansion Del Rio Hotel and the Guenther Museum. He is a graduate of the University of Houston and has passed the examination for Building Plan Examiner by SBCCI.

 

Bill F. Ross, P.E.

Bill F. Ross, P.E. a member of ACI’s Consultant Network, provides key leadership in the firm’s construction industry services. His professional skills include scheduling, cost-estimating, personnel management and project delivery. A graduate of Texas A&M, Mr. Ross has served in virtually every capacity from field superintendent to CEO with major Houston contractors, including his own company.


Rodney H. Lewis, P.E.

Rodney H. Lewis, P.E.,is a member of ACI's Consultant Network, bringing experience and expertise in the fields of mechanical and electrical engineering. Special interests include indoor air quality and energy management systems. He has over 20 years experience as principal in his own firm and has won five awards for design excellence. Mr. Lewis is a former President of the Houston Chapter of ASHRAE and serves on several national technical committees.


D. B. (Ben) Hales

D. B. (Ben) Hales is a member of ACI's Consultant Network and Principal of Moisture Technology Corporation. He is a Fellow of the Roof Consultants Institute. Mr. Hales is a Certified Construction Specifier with the Construction Specifications Institute. He has 35 years of experience in the Construction Industry. Mr. Hales is Past-President of the Roof Consultants Institute and has served on the RCI Board of Directors. He served as Chairman of the RCI Manual of Practice Committee and the RCI/NRCA Liaison Committee. Additionally, he is a past member of the National Roofing Contractors Association, the National Historical Preservation Society and the American Society for Testing and Materials, having served on ASTM Committee D-08 on Roofing, Waterproofing and Bituminous Materials, ASTM Subcommittee E06.55 on Performance of Exterior Building Wall Systems and ASTM Committee C-24 on Building Seals and Sealants.

Jay L. Marak

Jay L. Marak, is a member of ACI's Consultant Network. Former Director of Safety Services at the Houston Chapter, AGC. Expertise and forensic experience in jobsite safety issues, including OSHA compliance.
